A downloadable game for Windows

Welcome to Bad Toys: The Other Mission, a mascot shooter with funny graphics! This is a fan-made sequel to the classic Windows game, Bad Toys 3D by Tibo Software.

This is my first game on here, created using GameMaker and with help from many people in the GameMaker community. I pretty much learned game development with this program from scratch, because I've always wanted a sequel to this retro game from my childhood. So, after all these years, I decided to take matters into my own hands!

Explore the pixelated corridors of this goofy toy factory, but with a creepy twist! If you're not careful, you may encounter some horrors within these colorful halls. The extended demo contains multiple weapons and enemies, including new ones created exclusively for this game by yours truly. Much of the game reuses the assets from Bad Toys 3D, though I may ultimately replace them with more of my own creations. The game will be downloaded as a zip file, so simply extract the contents to the folder you desire. There are two versions of the game with mouse controls for aiming, or keyboard controls only.

Features:

- The demo contains 8 levels to explore.

- 3 difficulty settings for an added challenge.

- A variety of weapons and enemies can be encountered.

- An optional backstory can be read on computer systems throughout the game.

Since this is my first project, there may be glitches as this is a work in progress. I'm still kinda bad at optimization, so the game may start to slow down after a while if save states are loaded too many times. This can be resolved by restarting the game and reloading your last save state. Hopefully, I can get this fixed soon.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the game! I also welcome any feedback you might have!

And are there any cheat codes??

The maximum bullet holding limit is too low.

i want to increase more

Here you go!! I want to increase the bullet holding limit, but can't I fix it with the editor??

Please tell me how to fix it

I would like to increase the ammo capacity of revolvers, pistols, and shotguns from 50 to 75.

I also want to increase the bullet holding capacity of the plasma gun and chain gun from 99 to 200.

I am curious though, I am trying not to give spoilers but, is there anything to do for that demon 'hugs' you?  Or is it the other ending?

It's the other ending for completing the hardest difficulty. That loveable fellow returns as a more active threat in this game's spiritual successor, Toyful Wonderworld. It features much of the same levels but redone with my own visuals. The full game will ultimately continue the story established in this one!

Ohh man that is crazy! I'm glad that I found that ending then.

Overall, this was a very good experience. I forgot how good Bad Toys is and you made it an even better experience.  A suggestion.  The final stage changes the flow of the game and it's so damn good, maybe you could do that more often (Changes like bigger height, change of scenario, etc..). Not that you don't do that along the way, I love those scares and they are VERY creative.

Thanks for doing that and I am REALLY looking forward to that full game.

Thanks for the kind remarks, I really appreciate it! Unfortunately, due to potential copyright issues, this project won't be continuing under the Bad Toys branding, at least for now. That's why I made Toyful Wonderworld as a sort of spiritual successor. It plays very similarly, and is still heavily inspired by Bad Toys, but all the visuals were rebuilt from the ground up. The full game will also have more variation in the level design, and more scares of course!

When I finish this, I may go back to The Other Mission and add more to it if there is high demand. Thanks again for playing!

Would you be able to add a "classic" mode where you can turn using the arrow keys and use doors with the space bar like in the original game? I do not want to play this using the mouse at all.

I'm currently reconfiguring this demo into a new game with the original content I created, so it will be its own thing but still heavily inspired by Bad Toys visually and story wise. That being said, there will be multiple control options this time around including exactly what you suggested, so stay tuned!

Any chance you could backport it into this demo? I probably will not play otherwise. I am on a laptop and rarely bother plugging in a mouse.

I might go back to it after releasing the demo for the new game, though it essentially plays the same way as The Other Mission but with different graphics.

Fair enough, but I am a big fan of Bad Toys and would enjoy the nostalgia trip otherwise.

Well, you appealed to my inner Bad Toys fanboy, so I put together a keyboard controls version to try!  Hopefully it plays okay for you. It's like hard mode for me since I'm not good at aiming without a mouse. You can also still strafe while holding the Shift key. Let me know if everything works okay!

Hey there, thanks for playing! Yeah, the lag thing is still a problem I'm trying to figure out. The health items do give less health on the harder difficulties, but if it's on the same save at a lower difficulty, then that's probably a bug. The current game is being overhauled with my own artwork and a different save system. I'm still very much a beginner when it comes to game development, so this will take some time.  I'm glad you enjoyed it though! I will hopefully release a demo for the updated game soon, with the redone artwork.

hi i played a demo very good game :) what time finish the full version? and my quest this mode you plan in more jumpscare? that.s really good in :) and what more new weapons in the game? like a gatlic gun and revolver?)

This is wicked. I didn't expect to see new assets that match the old ones. Definitely will try this out.

You play Doom mods? I made one inspired by Bad Toys called Day of the Toys that you'll probably like. Has a Bad Toys easter egg on one level, too.

Well, wicked IS in my name! I definitely tried to match the art style as much as possible, so that everything blends together well. I haven't really played any Doom mods, but I've seen many videos on them including Day of the Toys, which I though was great! I remember thinking that those purple bunnies sounded REALLY familiar! I also liked the designs of your enemies and their funny animations. You did a great job on it!

this fantastic!!!  thank you!  i used to have bad toys 3d, but i dont. trust the tibo website. this will be even ber. best of luck on the restof it. cheers!

Thanks! Let me know if there's any improvements I can make! The final game will ultimately be its own thing, but still heavily inspired by Bad Toys 3D.

The sound effects kinda gives me disney sound source vibes

(+1)

Well, most of the sounds come from the original game, which was made in the 90s as well. Perhaps that's why they sound similar!

Okay

Keep doing what you're doing, you've really got a fun FPS here.  It reminds me of Wolfenstein 3D and Chex Quest.  I like how story rich it is, and I wish I hadn't gotten lost in level 2(I figured out where to go after I stopped recording).  I also didn't have time to play more, but I can at least show people what you've done so far.

Thanks for playing! I'm glad I got some constructive feedback on this. I'm gonna see about getting a working map system going for this, because the levels can get pretty confusing!

This game is so well made, the shifting of the rooms ,the scary mysterious sounds that go on as you make your way through yhe levels.I was making a video on it but i lost all my lives on level 4 and i  gave up 🤣 but it was so fun playing this foom inspired game.I'll try to gwt back in to finish my playthrough so i van make a video on it.Tha kyou for making this game i can clearly see how much work and passion has been put into this game.

Hey, thanks for the compliments! Glad you're enjoying the game so far. It can get pretty challenging, especially if you play the higher difficulties. Remember to use the computers to save your progress so you don't have to start over when you lose your lives! Thanks again, and if you do make a video, let me know. I'm curious to see how other people approach playing the game!
